Focal Epilepsy
Study: VRX-RET-E22-301
Purpose of Study: To explore the efficacy and safety of Retigabine (1200 mg/day) used as Adjunctive Therapy in Refractory Epilepsy patients with partial-onset seizures.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Age 18-75 years
- Diagnosis of refractory epilepsy with simple partial or complex partial seizures with or without secondary generalization
- Within the past 10 years, patients having 1 EEG or video EEG and 1 MRI or CT with results consistent with partial-onset seizures
- Good verbal and writing skills
- Parent or legal guardian (if applicable) consent
Exclusion Criteria:
- History of alcohol or drug abuse within the past year
- Evidence of progressive CNS disease (lupus, tumors, MS, Alzheimer's)
- History of malignancy within the past 2 years (exception: basal cell carcinoma)
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Received retigabine in previous study
- Treated with felbamate or vigabatrin in the past 6 months
- History of primary generalized seizures
